Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Black Coffee Exec-Produces Drake’s 7th Album!
Grammy Award-winning music producer, DJ Black Coffee, is doing Mzansi proud after being revealed as one of the prime executive producers on US rapper Drake’s new album.
It all started when Drake’s record label, OVO Sound, revealed on Thursday night, 16 June, that his seventh studio album, “Honestly, Nevermind”, would be released at midnight (Friday, 17 June):
Once the album dropped, SA fans immediately noticed a familiar name at the bottom of the tracklist:
And immediately, they (including our very own Major League DJz and US media personality, Brandon Jinx) got HYPED:
Black Coffee co-wrote and co-produced three songs on the album – “Texts Go Green”, Currents” and “Overdrive”, “Currents”, with his son Esona listed as his co-producer on the first track:
Which probably explains why Grootman shared this on his Twitter page:
After listening to “Honestly, Nevermind”, the reviews have rolled in, and most of them praise Drake for using Black Coffee’s sound on his latest offering.
Starting with a few words from rapper Cassper Nyovest:
From what we can gather, some tweeps are just here for Grootman’s beats instead of Champagne Papi’s vocals:
@ReeceCentre reckons it was Black Coffee who convinced Drake to take his seventh album in a dance-centric direction, which might explain why others might not be impressed by it:
Although your mileage may vary, it can’t be denied that Black Coffee is doing the thing, and is doing it right. As such, his countrymen are hailing him for being a great example and for putting SA on the music map:
Keep the Mzansi flag flying high, Grootman!
